“One Blood” by John Perkins is a great title on challenging the church to play a more active and effective role on race relations. Indeed, this has really been a thorn in the side of the church for sometime.
Very readable, the author is fair in his comments about both the black and white church and cites several examples of people in the past (Martin Luther King, Billy Graham, etc.) who have tried to improve race relations. Mr. Perkins also shares his own encounters with racism growing in Mississippi, moving to California, coming to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and moving back to Mississippi with a new perspective towards white people.
An excellent challenge for churches to be more intentional in improving relations of other races. Would love to see this happen and keep politicians of both major parties on their toes and reconsider their words and policies concerning race relations. The author also accurately cites many biblical examples of how Christianity is for all races.
I was given a review copy by Moody Publishers in exchange for a fair review.
