I was sent 101 Conversation Starters For Couples through MP Newsroom to review. I will be honest… when I first saw this book I was like, “psh…this is going to be totally lame.”
Then I got the book… and started looking at it and thinking when is the last time my husband and I have actually just talked recently? When is the last time that I learned something new about him? As I write this, I still don’t have an answer for those questions.
I go out to eat with my husband maybe one a week… what do we do? We focus on making sure our son is behaving or catching up on emails, or the news.
We are at home and what are we doing? Sleeping, catching up on being homeowners or parents. We don’t sit down like we did when we first started dating and actually had a real conversation in forever.
Question #7: What was your most serious physical injury as a child or a teen?
Question #31: who is the most joyful person that you know?
Question #61: In TV’s The Andy Griffith Show, Barney Fife once told Andy that the biggest purchase he ever made was a septic tank for his parent’s wedding anniversary. What gift would you like to give your parents?
Do you know how your spouse would answer these? I honestly have no clue.. and I’m a little ashamed of that fact. This book is small in size and is going to get tossed into my purse and next time that my husband and I are out to eat or sitting waiting someplace I think it will be a perfect time to take a few minutes to learn about one another, or heck maybe even on our airplane ride to Tampa in march.
As lame as the idea actually sounds… it’s not lame at all… and I think its going to be a great time to learn about one another and fall in love with one another all over again by getting back down to basics and just talking.
