52 Uncommon Ways to Unwind Together by Randy Southern features both unique new ideas and refreshed old ideas of ways to spend memorable time with your spouse. Southern’s addition of a “weaving the third strand” section to each idea adds both a mini Bible study and discussion to make even the silliest of ideas meaningful.
Readers shouldn’t approach 52 Uncommon Ways to Unwind Together with the thought that they will complete every idea. Rather, it seems this book is helpful to use as an inspiration to try some of Southern’s suggestions and brainstorm some new date ideas on your own. Some date ideas merely require a commitment of time and attention, whereas others also require some money, creativity, participation of additional friends/family, or a sense of adventure.
A relatively minor critique is that readers may prefer to read the “making it work for you” section before reading the “going the extra mile” section even though the author begins each idea with the latter.
