the back cover description really caught my eye on this book. it is true that the same Christmas story is told every year - it's powerful, no question - but can often become boring or eventually lose its appeal and majesty. I was excited to read the Christmas story from the perspectives.
there are eleven chapters that detail the Christmas story through other characters of the Bible.
- Zechariah & Elizabeth
- Wise men
- Simeon & Anna
- Jesus' Family
- More of Jesus' Family
I absolutely loved the format of this book and the people Darling chose to study. Every chapter brought a completely new perspective on the Christmas story that we often overlook or ignore. Although Jesus' birth is one of the greatest gift we have received, God chose so many people to be a part of that gift to us and their stories are powerful as well.
each chapter ends with a study reflections section that includes questions to dig deeper into your own personal life regarding your role in the Christmas story. It then is followed by a suggested song to listen to for further reflection.
it's also a short, easy read. it's a bit much to read with your children during the Christmas season but a wonderful option as an individual study.
I received a copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
