I had the opportunity to read Darling's previous book, The Characters of Christmas, and really enjoyed that book. So I was, of course, excited to read his new similar book about the characters of Easter as a good preparation to the Easter season.
The format of the books is exactly the same as his Christmas version. Each chapter concludes with a Study Reflections section that includes questions to dig deeper into your own personal life regarding your role in the Easter story. It then is followed by a suggested song to listen to for further reflection. It's deep but short and easy read. Probably not able to keep the attention of children but a wonderful option for individual study.
There are ten chapters that includes several different characters that are pertinent to the Easter story. Some include the following:
- The Women at the Tomb
- Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea
I definitely enjoyed digging deeper into each of these characters and their role within the Easter story. God is sovereign and we can clearly see that through their lives and the life of Jesus.
I received copy of this book from Moody Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
