Holy Hygge Review

Book Review:

This is a devotional book that explores the idea of Hygge- a Danish word that describes the feeling of comfort and belonging -and gives the reader ideas of how to correlate a biblical form of hygge in their home. Jamie goes through the eight principles of hygge (hospitality, relationships, well-being, atmosphere, comfort, contentment, rest and a home for the homeless) and finds examples of Jesus doing these things in the bible.

At the end of each chapter, she offers some questions for self reflection/ group discussion on the aspect of hygge discussed, includes a few bible passages to get a deeper look at Jesus’ examples and ends each section with a prayer. I especially like the suggestions at the back of the book for gathering people together and sharing the gospel with them.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was inspirational and full of great ideas that I am looking forward to trying some out in my own home!

Thank you so much to Moody Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for a read and review. All opinions are my own.
