My hubby and I recently celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary. Before our wedding, we were given Gary Chapman's book The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts which is something I recommend to everyone. It really gave us so much understanding about how we show and receive love. For example, my hubby is an acts-of-service kind of guy. He's happy when I do the dishes or do something nice for him--and when I don't do those things, he doesn't feel loved. I'm a "quality time" kind of girl, so I feel love when he makes time for me and we get to go places together. The other love languages include gifts, words of affirmation, and physical touch.
A Perfect Pet for Peyton uses a playful story of 5 children who each, with the help of Mr. Chapman and the unique pets at his special emporium, discover their own personal love language. It's probably more beneficial to you as their parent, though. I definitely was touched by my kids responses to our discussion that came about because of the book. It was really a blessing and a moment I'll treasure, and now I understand them better. I couldn't recommend a book higher!
Thanks to the wonderful people at MP Newsroom for providing me with this book to review!
