Spurgeon on the Power of Scripture Review

Book Review:

I absolutely love Charles Spurgeon, but I can get overwhelmed with "where to begin" reading his many sermons. Jason Allen has curated some of Spurgeon's best sermons into this succinct book. I have read his other book on Spurgeon ("Spurgeon on the Power of Scripture"), and I found it to be immensely helpful, edifying, and enlightening.

Spurgeon truly was the "Prince of Preachers," and he eloquently delivered sermons, solely based on the Word of God. Some of my favorite lines of his, that Allen captures in this book, are:

"God our Father is a good Father; He pities us as fathers pity their children and condescends to us. He tell the number of the stars and calls them by name, yet He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. If you have confidence in God, you will take your great things and your little things to Him, and He will never belie your confidence. Faith must succeed."

"Never, never, never renounce the habit of praying or your confidence in its power."
