Your Future Self Will Thank You Review

Book Review:

Your Future Self Will Thank You is a guide for sinners, quitters, and procrastinators; secrets to self-control from the Bible and Brain Science. It is easy to make excuses and stay stagnant in life. It is relatable to start moving forward but then give up and fall back into old patterns and behaviors. We are comfortable believing that we can never change, we are who we are. We like to blame everything and everyone else, but in reality the biggest enemy we have is staring back at us in the mirror. We lack self-control. Your Future Self Will Thank You is a compassionate and humorous guide to breaking bad habits and growing willpower. Drew explores Scripture’s teaching on how to live a disciplined life while offering practical strategies for growth based on the science of self-control. We can gain all that we need to be freer, happier, and more productive through self-control.
A lot of great habits I had formed in high school dissolved when grief hit my life. I have been struggling to get those habits back. I've become lazy. I've gotten used to the excuses and how good my spot on the couch feels. My safe zone. The walls of this house. Being alone. Nasty habits dictated by the winds and waves of life. I have allowed the wind to dictate my course. Like dandelion puffs, I float on the air of emotions. My feelings. My wants. My desires. My. My. My. This is a new chapter and Your Future Self Will Thank You has been encouraging me to start. One step at a time. One new habit at a time. This life matters. I don't want to miss it, because it seems too hard or too big. This is a great read. If you like to approach big topics with a sense of humor, this one is for you. I needed it.
